A real wonder to try absolutely, but if you are here, it means that you want the recipe, and you are right because it is really a must !. It is exactly the taste and texture of an orange chicken that you may eat at the restaurant, the taste is so here. When I was preparing, I don’t know how many times I said to myself “Ohlala but how it is going to taste ” I never used this kind of ingredients together. Well, it was a great moment of discovery. An unusual flavor and therefore a real delight. Come on, let’s go, here’s the recipe.
4-6 Chicken cutlet
3 Egg
1/4 Tsp Salt
1/3 Cup Corn starch
1/3 Cup Flour
Frying Oil
For the orange sauce
1 cup Fresh squeeze or bottled orange juice
1/2 Cup Sugar
2 Tbsp rice vinegar or just white
2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
1/2 Tbsp fresh or powdered ginger
2 cloves garlic
1/2 Tsp red flakes
1 Tbsp corn starch
2 Tsp of water
Prep your sauce. In a pan, mix together the orange juice, soy sauce, vinegar, ginger, pressed garlic, sugar and stir well. Put a good 5 minutes to cook so that everything combines well. Meanwhile, mix well in a small bowl the starch and water, it must well combine. As soon as your sauce is boiling, turn down the heat to medium heat. Add your cornstarch mixture, mix well, and cook for about 10 minutes. You will see that the sauce thickens. Add the orange skins (if you don’t want such a strong Orange flavor you can skip the skins) Reduce the heat to a minimum and set aside. Prepare your flour with the starch. In a bowl, mix the eggs and the salt. Cut your chicken into a small 3 cm cube (for example, I cut mine too big so really cut it to 3 cm) Heat your pan with the oil. Soak your chicken in the egg then in the flour and start to fry. Never put too much in the pan at the same time or the pan will never be at the same temperature and your chicken will fry badly. If you put the orange peel remove them. When the chicken has a nice golden color, dip it in the sauce. Mix well so that each piece of chicken is well coated with its sauce. Here is a bowl of simple white rice, Place the chicken on it and garnish with a little fresh coriander and small fresh onion.
